Autoglym Super Resin Polish Review
Autoglym Super Resin Polish is one of the most popular polishes on the market and in this article, we’ve tested and reviewed it to share whether or not you should add it to your selection of detailing products.
Autoglym Super Resin Polish is one of the most recognisable detailing products in the UK and it’s one that we rated as the best car polish in our roundup. It’s an “all-in-one” polish that’s designed to be used upon all types of cars with the end goal of achieving a flawless shine. It can also be used to remove minor scratches, swirl marks and scuffs but this may only be temporary (as discussed below) because it contains “fillers” within its formula.
We’ve personally be using Autoglym Super Resin Polish for a few decades now and we will continue to do so too. Therefore, as you may have already gathered by the start of this review, we really like this polish!
Our Review
We purchased the Autoglym Super Resin Polish so that we could thoroughly test and assess it. Keep reading for our full product review and thoughts of the polish.

As mentioned above, Autoglym Super Resin Polish is by far the most popular polish on the market and it has been this way for along time. This is primarily because it can be used upon all paint types and it’s very easy to use. The SRP formula also produces great results and it has the ability to remove light scratches, swirl marks and other defects.
It’s best described as an “all-in-one” polish and if you ask the majority of detailing enthusiasts what their first detailing product they bought was, I am sure most people will state that it was the Super Resin Polish (including myself!).
What’s Included & Required To Use It?
Autoglym Super Resin Polish is available in a 325ml, 500ml or 1 litre bottle but to use it, you’ll require an applicator and a suitable microfibre cloth. If you don’t already have the applicator and cloth, we would recommend purchasing Autoglym’s “Complete Kit”, which includes the two items.
As you can see below, we used Autoglym’s applicator to apply the polish and it was certainly much easier to use when compared to other applicators we’ve used in the past. With regards to the brand’s microfibre cloth, it wasn’t anything special but owning matching branded detailing products is always nice to have.

How We Tested
We’ve been using the SRP formula by Autoglym for many years now and it always produces consistent results. In terms of how we tested it for this review, we used it upon an Audi R8 that hadn’t been detailed for at least 6 months.
Before using the polish, we washed and dried the car and then began polishing it using the below steps:
- Shook the bottle as it had been in an upright position for a few weeks
- Poured a small amount evenly across the applicator
- Applied the polish to the paintwork in overlapping circles (as shown above by the hazing effect left behind)
- Allowed it to dry and checked to see if the polish had come into contact with any plastic trim
- Buffed the polish away using a clean microfibre cloth
It’s worth pointing out that we could’ve used a car polisher with the formula but it’s easy enough to apply by hand.
Before & After Results
Below are before and after photos we took whilst using the Autoglym Super Resin Polish. As you can see from the before photo, the black paintwork had plenty of swirl marks but the polish did a great job of removing/hiding the defects. After polishing each of the panels, the car was looking flawless and it was certainly a big improvement to the paintwork.

How Long Does It Last & Was It Easy To Apply?
It’s important to note that Autoglym’s SRP is best used for those that want to regularly polish their car, which means that it does have its limitations. The limitations come in the form of its ability to remove defects because most of the time, it simply “fills” the defects, which makes it look like they’ve been removed.
Due to the filling properties of the formula, the results don’t last forever but you should expect the finish to last between 2 to 3 months. However, to make it last this long (or longer), it’s recommended that you apply a layer of car wax on top of the finish for the best results.
The main benefit of the SRP formula is how easy it is to apply and achieve great results each and every time. It’s a simple “on and off” application that’s ideal for beginners that want to restore lost shine to their car’s paintwork.
If we were being “picky”, there is some minor dusting when buffing off the polish. However, when compared to the older formula of the Super Resin Polish, the most recent formula certainly produces less dust/residue. With regards to the dusting, it was only an issue when buffing off polish on large panels because dust was accumulating within the microfibre cloth. Therefore, as long as you give your cloth a shake or use multiple cloths, you shouldn’t experience much dusting whilst using the polish.

Autoglym Super Resin Polish Pros & Cons
- Easy to apply by hand
- Restores dull surfaces and leaves behind a deep shine
- Able to remove minor defects in the paint
- Shine lasts for 2 to 3 months
- Available in multiple bottle sizes
- Relatively good value when compared to other polishes
- Light dusting left behind when buffing off polish from large panels
- Leaves white marks if it comes into contact with unpainted trim
- Temporarily hides defects instead of removing them (only minor defects can be removed)
YourCar's Verdict
To conclude our review, the Autoglym Super Resin Polish is the ultimate “all-in-one” polish that’s ideal for all experience levels. It really does tick all the boxes in terms of affordability, ease of application and the finish that it provides on all types of paintwork.
If you are looking for a polish that completely removes defects in the paint instead of temporarily filling them, you may want to use an alternative product. However, as an all-rounder that can be used as regularly as you want, the SRP formula can’t be beaten.

Autoglym Super Resin Polish FAQ's
The short answer is no but it does a great job at hiding the imperfections for a short period (around 2 to 3 months).
We would recommend that you apply the SRP formula by hand using a suitable applicator (as shown in our review).
Although the product name includes “Polish”, Autoglym Super Resin Polish is an “all-in-one” product that’s both a polish and wax. However, it’s important to note that the formula only contains a small portion of wax, which means that if you want a protective finish, it’s recommended that you follow up the application with a layer of wax.
The brand state that their polish is only suitable for painted bodywork and not plastic trim or any other unpainted parts of the car. Therefore, if the formula comes into contact and dries upon plastic trim, it may stain it. However, if it does get into contact with any plastic trim, you can simply wipe it off using a microfibre cloth before it dries.
